A thing I have been bad at doing (and certainly I’m not alone in this) is updating my own dang website. Especially when I have kind of important news to share. Not that this is news anymore, but still important, I suppose: In case you’re stumbling upon this website without somehow having already seen this on social media, an email newsletter or your local PBS station, my new documentary film Parkway of Broken Dreams is now available for download, streaming and DVD purchase.
All the information about the release is available, of course, on the Parkway of Broken Dreams website, but I’ll still list out the basics here:
- The full theatrical version of the film (79 minutes) can be rented or purchased for as little as 99 cents at Amazon Prime Video, iTunes/Apple TV, and for a limited time, Vimeo on Demand.
- That same version of the film can be streamed on demand for free with ads on Tubi and Xumo.
- That version of the film is also available to buy on DVD with an additional 14 minutes of bloopers and deleted scenes.
- A 58-minute, family-friendly (no profanity) version can be streamed for free on the PBS App for PBS Passport members.
Because some folks have asked: yes, we make a little money off every download and stream EXCEPT on PBS. That money doesn’t go into my pocket, though. It goes toward filling the hole that was dug making this film, and if it’s ever enough to fill the hole, then that money starts funding the next project from PKWY Media, the production company formed to make Parkway of Broken Dreams.
Although I have started development work on said future projects, I’m in no rush to start the process of making another feature-length documentary. It’s now been almost four years since I started work on Parkway, and honestly, my batteries are running close to empty at this point–especially after spending the last year just on distribution and promotion. Folks are probably as tired of hearing about this film as I am talking about it. Which is probably why it took me so long to write this post!
But now it’s done, it’s out, I’ve made the rounds, and hopefully soon I can move on (for the most part) to the next thing, which might just be me recording covers of pop songs in my home studio. Who knows?
